Peshawar Recognized as a Green Space-Friendly City

On Monday, May 5, 2025, the city of Peshawar was officially recognized as a “Green Space-Friendly City” by the International Federation of Municipalities Sports and Tourism (IFMST). In an official ceremony, the international Green-Friendly City certificate was presented by Ms. Ilyas, IFMST’s official representative in Pakistan, to the Honorable Mayor of Peshawar, Dr. Ali Zubair.

This prestigious title was awarded in recognition of the city’s extensive and effective efforts in expanding green spaces, increasing urban green area per capita, implementing environmental initiatives, and promoting a culture of environmental awareness.

Mayor Dr. Ali Zubair expressed his gratitude and stated, “This achievement is the result of the collective efforts of our citizens, city administrators, and municipal staff. We are committed to preserving and expanding this success in the future.”

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Dr. Ali Zubair shared a video message expressing his appreciation to the IFMST team and Ms. Ilyas, describing this recognition as a milestone in Peshawar’s path toward sustainable urban development.
